The Center for Active Generations is a state-of-the-art facility that is open six days a week for members to take advantage of the many following programs and services. Your membership at The Center for Active Generations is your passport to an active and healthy lifestyle.

Free opportunities as a Center member include:

  • Library - Enjoy this great new addition to the Center! To check out a book, fill out the card in the inside cover (name phone number and due date of 4 weeks from check out date). Return books to the information window. Do not leave books in the library.
  • Educational & Lifelong Learning Classes
  • Health Screenings
  • Free Blood Pressures are scheduled the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m.
  • Blood pressure screenings are given every Tuesday by Sioux Valley CARESPAN Clinic from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.

  • Blood pressure screenings are given every 2nd and 4th Mondays by Interim Health Care from 11:00 am to  1:00 pm.
  • Health Fairs & Health Screenings are scheduled throughout the year!

Your Membership Provides You Access To:
  • Computer Learning Center  SeniorNet is a unique nonprofit organization providing adults 50 and older access to and education for computer technology to enhance their lives and enable them to share their wisdom. People under age 50 can take classes, if the class is not full. The maximum class size is 10. Our local web site is: www.cfag.org/seniornet. SeniorNet's national website is: www.seniornet.org
     
  • Fitness & Wellness Classes  Classes include Strength Training, Basic fitness classes and Body Sculpting. We have morning, afternoon, and evening classes to fit all schedules.
  • Special Interest Clubs and Drop-In Activities The Center has many special interest clubs including a Computer Club, Hearts Club, Bridge Club, Red Hat Club, Bean Bag Club, Bingo, Biking Club, Book Club, Creative Writing Club, Duplicate Bridge, Gold 'n Silver Drama Club, Hiking Club, Lions Club, Optimist Club, Quilting Club, Sandollar Investment Club, Scrabble Club, Shuffleboard, Singles Club, Table Tennis, Woodworking Club, Whist, Dominos, Pitch, Cribbage, Hand & Foot, Pinochle, Canasta, Mah-Jongg, 500.  
     
  • Library:  Wanted: additional bookcases for the Library. The Center For Active Generations is pleased that the newly expanded library is getting so much use! Books are flying off the shelves from all categories -- health/wellness, romance, history, and autobiographies. The Center would like to thank member Bob Black for his recent donation of many history books. We'll highlight some of these in our April news. This month we want to highlight two New York Times bestsellers and one national bestseller that were recently donated: Girl With A Pearly Earring by Tracy Chevalier, The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards, and The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.  If you would like to donate books to the Center's library, please call prior to your donation to make sure that the library committee will accept them. Thank you. Enjoy this great new addition to the Center!

  • Lifelong Learning Opportunities The Center has many lifelong learning classes including a South Dakota History Series, Mail Fraud, Avera Brown Bag Series, Building with Bonds, Cooking Class, Beautify Your Home with a Terrarium, Asset Allocation, Reverse Mortgages, Optimism for Diabetic Neuropathy, Beginning Genealogy.  
     
  • Health Screenings & Massage  Massage Therapy, Health & Fitness Fair, Prevention screenings.
     
  • Arts & Craft Classes Classes include painting & drawing classes, specialty classes ranging from rubberstamping to t-shirt painting and holiday craft classes. Join us for our informal craft group every Thursday to make craft items for our gift shop.
     
  • Trips & Travel The Center enjoys one-day trips around the 4 state area of South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska. Join us as we travel on Mystery Trips, enjoy Dinner Theatres, State Fairs, Festivals, and much more.
     
  • Evening Dances Join us every Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. to dance to live bands and the big-band sounds.
