Health Screenings/Massage Therapy
"For Your Good Health"

AARP Wellness Bus to visit the Center
Friday, August 6 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The AARP/Walgreens Wellness Tour is delivering FREE health screenings and health education to communities across the country with a special emphasis on diverse and underserved areas. The nationwide tour features nine customized buses that travel 240,000 miles across 45 states, visiting more than 2,000 communities in 300 cities. One of the nine busses called the AARP/Walgreens La Gira Del Buen Vecino, which is solely dedicated to the island of Puerto Rico, will be on the road this year as well. Last year, the Wellness Tour provided more than $1 million in screenings to more than 180,000 customers. Over the next two years the tour has a goal to deliver more than 2.5 million in free health screenings -- a value of more than $60 million. Available screenings are worth over $130 per person, and no appointment is necessary. Screenings include: Total cholesterol levels, Glucose levels, Blood pressure, Waist circumference, Bone density, Body mass index.

Monthly Hearing Screens
Advantage Hearing Centers will be providing monthly hearing screens at the Center on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.
Walk-ins only. No appointment is necessary.
They will be here on Thursday December 10 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.


Arthritis Support & Education Group
Fourth Monday of every month at 12:30 pm in Sertoma B. If you have questions, please contact Jenny at 333-3306. This community support group meets the fourth Monday of each month to discuss issues facing those with arthritis.  Come and enjoy a Wii bowling day sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care. Living with arthritis doesn't mean not being active or having fun! Come and learn how you can exercise and have fun at the same time with Wii bowling. You'll have the opportunity to interact and learn how to be active and healthy! There will be no August meeting, but the support group will resume meetings in September.  The Arthritis Support & Education Group is sponsored by a partnership between Sanford Hospital and The Center For Active Generations. Group facilitators are Lori Jones, RN with Sanford CareSpan Clinic, and Jenny Centra, Program Assistant and Certified Arthritis Exercise Instructor at The Center.

Massage Therapy
Let Carol Ann Schroeder take away your stress. $13 for a 15 minute massage in Room 128 (Location: Day Break). Call the Center for an appointment (336-6722).

Appointments are available between 1:30 pm - 7:00 pm on the following dates.

Tuesdays 2010:  July 13, August 3, September 14, October 5, November 2, December 7

Thursdays 2010:   July 22 & 29, August 19 & 26, September 23 & 30, October 21 & 28, November 11 & 18, December 16

CARESPAN Clinic
At the Center every Tuesday -- Lori Jones, RN, is available from 9:00 am to 11:30 am for consultation. Stop by anytime.

Free Blood Pressure Screens
Blood pressure screenings are given every Tuesday at the Center from 9:00 am to 11:30 am by Sanford Carespan Clinic.
Blood pressure screenings are given the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at the center from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm by Interim Health Care .
Blood pressure screenings are given the 3rd Monday of each month at Bethany Lutheran Home beginning at 11:00 am.

 

Sanford Foot Care Clinic
Thursday, August 26 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Room 132.
Make appointments at the Center's front desk for an appointment at Sanford's Foot Care Clinic.
The cost of this service is $25, payable at the time of your appointment.
Foot care is performed by a nurse from Sanford.

Advantage Hearing Centers - Monthly Hearing Screens
2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 10:00 am to 12 noon.
No registrations are required. Just walk in! Screenings are FREE!
Advantage Hearing Centers support The Center for Active Generations and our members by offering a great incentive to members who want to get their hearing tested. Go into an Advantage Hearing Center for an exam and receive a $10 gift certificate toward your Active Generation membership renewal. Interim Healthcare Foot Care Clinic
Friday, July 16
Appointments from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.
A registered nurse and aide will be available.
A fee of $25 is payable at the time of service.

Balance Class
Tuesday & Thursday, June 1 - July 22 from 9:30 to 10:15 am. Cost: $24 for 8 weeks. This class will focus on exercises for the lower body and exercises to increase good posture and overall mobility. You can sign up for a free balance assessment before committing to the class. The free assessments are given on Thursday and Friday morning starting tat 9:30 am. Register by calling 336-6722 to reserve a spot for a free balance assessment. 

Grief Support Group
The new "Friends Among Friends" grief support group will meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am in the Center's conference room. If you have experienced the loss of a loved one, please consider attending. membership to the Center is encouraged, but not required. "Friends Among Friends" is sponsored by Miller Funeral home in conjunction with The Center For Active Generations. For more information, contact Mary Anderson-Wingen at 336-2640.

Caregivers Support Group
This group meets on the 2nd Thursdays of each month from 12 noon to 1:00 pm in the conference room, Room 128.
